The secret for making the right kind of garden compost depends on the ingredients that go into it. Both the browns and the greens should be balanced. The greens that can be used include peeling of fruits, vegetables, coffee and tea grounds, weeds, grass clippings, droppings of rabbits and guinea pigs, rotten manure and urine (diluted using water). The browns which can be used in the making of garden compost include sawdust, straw, bark, branches, twigs, fallen leaves, paper and cardboard. Other materials include egg shells for their valuable minerals, hair (even though decomposes slowly, it is a good nitrogen source) and natural fibers such as cotton or wool.
