Compost maker refers to either the machinery or the people who make compost. But here, we will confine our discussion with the machinery used to make compost.
On a practical home level, compost makers are bins that are used to make compost and are available in various sizes and shapes and can be either stationary or rotating type. Some people may begin to compost with a shredder and break the compost material as small as possible. Lawn movers are also used to reduce the size of the fallen leaves.
When compost bins are used, it would be highly useful. Practically, it is better to use more than one bin because one can be used to collect the compost material, another to transfer the contents to it and the next one to gather green wastes and brown wastes separately so that they can be mixed in the required ratio exactly, that is two parts of brown waste to one part of green wastes.
A shovel, a fork and rake are essential to make compost. The fork is used to move the compost material on the top and sides to the center and bottom of the new pile in the next bin. The shovel could be made use of to cut larger pieces into smaller ones and the contents can be moved with a snow shovel. If this pile is left for a few weeks, rich and dark compost is ready for the plants and the result will be evident from the yield from the plants.
