Compost Shredder – The Uses

When the amount of compost to be made is large, compost shredders can be used to hasten the process, by cutting the compost materials to small pieces. Compost shredders are capable of shredding garden plants, piles of leaves, vegetable wastes into mulch or compost, almost instantly. In fact, there are more powerful shredders that can shred thick tree pruning and branches.

Most commonly, a compost shredder has a spiral bladed system that automatically draws in the shredding material and revolves. Herein, the material is crushed heavily, producing small pieces which also enable microorganisms and oxygen to hasten the process of composting.

Some of the advanced models of compost shredders have a micro shredder system that can cut branches, twigs and leaves uniformly, throughout. Some of the shredders can work with both wet and dry materials of compost. Compost shredders are advanced further and further with much advanced features like heavy, steel rotator with two steel chipper knives and shredding bars that are capable of shredding very large quantities of garden waste. There is shredding control facility, too.

A reversible fixed shredding hammer and double edged chipper knife are found in high end models of compost shredders. They are tractor driven or motor driven and can be used in farms. Such compost shredders are utilized for agriculture and gardening purposes. Another significant feature of advanced compost shredders are, they have wide cutting disc and feeder whose blades are adjustable.
