Compost Container
There are different types of compost containers and it depends upon the individual’s need and taste, to select the right type of compost container. Of all the various formats of compost containers, compost pails, compost tumblers and compost bins are generally used by the majority of the people. Each type has its own role to play in the process of composting.
Compost pails are the most common of all the containers which are simple bowls used for depositing the kitchen waste. These can be placed either under the kitchen sink or in a corner of the balcony. A good idea is to line the bottom of the compost container with a paper towel or newspaper, albeit thick, to absorb the odor that tends to emanate from the compost material.
When it comes to compost bins, there are many varieties of various sizes, shapes and colors. Normally, commercial compost bins are not turned or moved but rather more and more materials are added to it on the top, when rich compost can be removed from the bottom of the compost container. There are both hot and cold systems and there are home made compost containers, too.
But, the most convenient of all, is the compost tumblers that speed up the mixing and turning. Since they are closed, they have the ability to retain moisture. The job is made easier and composting is done faster, using a compost tumbler.
Whatever be the type of compost container, the primary objective is to make rich dark compost and make a small contribution by reducing the material that goes to the landfill.
