Compost System

Composting is actually a natural process that has been in vogue for centuries, performed by Mother Nature which turns the organic matter into valuable compost. Rich, brown compost is very beneficial for the growth of the plants and is a healthy way of organic gardening.

Composting is a basic simple process and the composting system chosen depends upon various factors such as the space available for composting, the amount of compost to be accomplished, the materials used for this purpose, the time intended to be spent for it and lastly, but importantly, the tidy look of the composting system.

Of course, all these factors vary from one person to another and is totally left to their choice. The various types of composting systems range from the rudimentary home made type to commercially made kitchen composters, tumblers and different kinds of composting systems, in addition to vermi- composting, trench composting pile and sheet composting systems.

Every composting system has its own merits and demerits and the method of composting in each system is also unique. But the common aspect of all types of composting system is that it requires good organic material that can be easily decomposed, good aeration, moisture and some microorganisms or worms to speed up the process to yield rich, brown compost as the end result.

Organic gardening is a way of gardening in harmony with Nature and is environment- friendly. It gives a productive crop that is healthier for both humans and the environment.
