There are many varieties of compost bins in various sizes and shapes. Compost bins are designed either for home use or for making compost, commercially. Commercial compost bins are more often designed as constant piles that are not turned or replaced to another bin but instead the compost material is added to the top and taken from the bottom.
The commercial compost bins can either be a hot system or a cold system. In a hot system, there is a three pile set up, so that it is made very easy to add materials and remove it, for later use. Commercial compost bins can also be made at home with just three sides having no top or bottom. The front may be open or closed for removing the compost, when it is ready.
Generally, commercial compost bins are not large as the home made ones that can be made suitable to suit the individual’s needs. There can be three different bins for commercial composting, one for gathering the compost material, the second for the first turning and the third for the second turning. Compost can be turned from second to third and then, back again which hastens the process by adding it to the compost mixture.
Commercial composts are high in demand in the market since people have realized that compost is better than artificial fertilizers and there are many companies that actually package this as a product and sell them.
