Composting System

The method of composting and the bin used for this purpose, depends upon two factors, namely, the volume of compost that is being planned and the time or period for which composting is done.

First things, first. If the volume of compost is made is quite large, it is enough to just pile the contents of the compost in a corner of the garden and allow it to compost, naturally, by just turning it, now and then. If the compost is needed rather quickly, then, the service of worms is needed which is known as worm composting.

Tumbler composting is another type of composting system, wherein, the materials are turned to hasten the process of composting, by adding more air to it. Compost bins are also good for large amount of composting but it is labor oriented.

For those who are a little conscious about the cost of buying a compost bin, they can build it on their own through simple road pallets of four and wrap it with a wire mesh or all the sides. There is another system called the two and three bin system that makes it easier to turn the compost pile by being able to move the material from one bin to another.

If you cannot afford to buy a compost bin, there is the rotary tumbler system that takes up less space and can produce compost faster than a bin system. The choice of the type of compost system purely depends on the needs and convenience of the user and is an environment friendly and healthy way of composting.
